Chamber Launches Career Awareness Initiative  

Workforce Attraction and Retention continue to be major goals of the Illinois Quad City Chamber of Commerce’s Blueprint 2010 growth strategy.  The Chamber’s latest workforce initiative will assist high school students develop an understanding of different careers options, area businesses that match specific career paths, and the education and experience required to work in their desired occupation.  This initiative is critical to identify and prepare the Quad City region’s future workforce.

To implement this initiative, the Illinois Quad City Chamber, The Moline Foundation, and Junior Achievement have joined together to make Career Cruising Network available to Rock Island County school districts.  The Career Cruising Network software allows teachers to guide students and their parents in career exploration that makes job/careers come alive, provides interactive profiles of area businesses, offers advice from local career coaches, and links to updated information on post-secondary education programs.
