Demographics
About the Quad Cities Metropolitan Statistical Area
The Quad Cities MSA is located in Eastern Iowa and Western
Illinois on the Mississippi River, 165 miles west of
Chicago. It consists of Scott County in Iowa and Rock Island
and Henry Counties in Illinois with a population of over
376,000.
The Market
The Quad Cities is midway between Minneapolis on the north,
St. Louis on the south, Chicago on the east, and Des Moines
on the west. The area's 300-mile market of nearly 37.4
million people comprises nearly 13% of the nation's
population. This makes it the largest 300-mile market west
of Chicago.
The Quad-City market, often considered one of the most
unusual collection of river communities in the United
States, is divided by the Mississippi River which flows
westward between Illinois and Iowa and almost equally
separates the population on both sides.
Five cities — Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa and Rock
Island, Moline and East Moline in Illinois — make up the
core of the Quad-Cities. With five cities making up the bulk
of the Quad City Region, there are many options for where
you choose to live, work, play, and provide education and
healthcare for your family.
